Counting days between two dates

The Date Difference Calculator subtracts the start moment from the end moment. That single rule covers a hotel stay, a project window, and a deadline that already passed. It does not add one extra day unless you put that extra day in the end date.

When both time fields are empty, both moments are midnight. January 1, 2026, to February 1, 2026, is then 31 days, because February 1 at midnight sits 31 midnights after January 1. The same date in both fields is 0 days. If you meant “how many dates are on the calendar including both ends,” you are asking a different question; add one to the result, or move the end date.

US readers usually say month/day/year out loud. The picker still stores ISO YYYY-MM-DD underneath. Read the result line, which writes January 1, 2026, if you want to confirm you did not swap the month and the day.

Times are optional. After you enter them, the span becomes whole 24-hour days plus leftover hours and minutes. A flight that leaves at 9:00 p.m. and lands after midnight is no longer “one calendar day” in that mode. If you only care about the printed dates, clear the times.

A later start produces a negative number. The result is still the end date minus the start date. It is useful when you typed the pair backward and want to see the size of the mistake, rather than a silent blank.
